Every class includes alignment cues that will keenly focus you into your body, Pranayama (breath work), an invitation to set yourself in the direction you want to move and at least one solid OM. Gems from traditional principals of the 8 Limbs of Yoga and Five Element Taoist philosophy of mind, body and heart will most likely make a regular appearance.
When I started my online teaching journey, two class types were created: Float & Surge which are defined below. Those who have taken from me in person know the secret sauce to my teaching is an improvisational curation pulled from the energy of those in the room. I’m a conduit, a creative who finds more success being present with the flow rather than prepared to impose my own lesson plan. I wasn’t sure how this would translate virtually or if I would be capable of channelling without the presence of other yogis in my physical space. Quickly, I was reminded that energy is energy and the magic of my teaching hasn’t been deterred. So while I can’t promise that one Live class will be more or less of one thing, a Float or a Surge, I can promise that when I post the recorded class I will label it as such for you to choose from later.
VinyasaFloat
Float is defined as rest, movement, hovering at the surface without sinking. This class is for those who want to ease into their bodies, explore the edges and depths at a softer, curious and consistently fluid pace.
Don’t be fooled, this class won’t be easy, we just start slower and get a little looser with the rhythm.
VinyasaSurge
Surge is defined as a sudden powerful forward or upward movement, a natural force such as the waves or tide. This class is for those who want to access and ride the ever moving flow the moment they arrive on the mat.
We will open the dam and flow until we’re done.
Restore
Look for Pop Up Classes
My favorite definition of Restore is to “give back to the original owner or recipient.” This class is a time to give back to yourself, the original owner and recipient of your life. We might lay around stacked on pillows, bolsters, for up to 15 minutes per pose. And I honestly don’t care if you’re watching a movie at the same time - as long as your video is off, we don’t know about it and I’ll take care of muting you. If that’s what it takes to get you to spend time deeply unwinding the layers of being in a body, that’s what it takes.
